The National Museums of Cagliari are accessible establishments that make constant improvements to their services for all users. Thanks to the “Liquid Museum” project for online access to “culture without obstacles” that was funded by MiBAC from 2014 to 2016, the museums have become even more inclusive.
The museums staff are trained to welcome and assist visitors, in order to make their visits to the museums as enjoyable as possible.
Tactile map
At the entrance to the “Museum Citadel” there is a tactile and Braille map that describes the structure and the buildings in the complex.

A number of ramps lead from the entrance of the “Museum Citadel” to the Archaeology Museum.
Inside ramps
A number of ramps can be found inside the museums.
Inside stair lift
There is a stair lift inside the archaeological museum, between the mezzanine floor (the teaching room) and the second exhibition floor.
Public toilets
To the right at the entrance to the Archaeology Museum there are toilets.
Other public toilets can be found on the ground floor for museum visitors.
Lift
The museums have lifts to take visitors to all of the exhibition floors.
Mobility aids
At the ticket office, visitors can ask for wheelchairs or seat sticks to help them to get around the museums more comfortably. In addition, throughout the museum there are benches and rest areas to make your visit more pleasant.
Snack area
On the first exhibition floor of the archaeological museum there is a small snack area where visitors can buy food and hot and cold drinks from vending machines.
Sign language video
In the archaeological museum, there are monitors that shows a video introduction to the museum in Italian sign language, with Italian and English subtitles.
Braille guide
At the ticket office, visitors can ask for Braille guides with descriptions and pictures of the most significant items on display in the archaeological museum.
Legible writing
The words on the panels have been designed to be as legible as possible, with flush left alignment of the texts, white writing on black backgrounds and sans-serif fonts.
Tactile panel with ceramic shapes
On the ground floor, there is an illustrative tactile panel with matt resin outlines of the different shapes of ceramic pots and containers.
Tactile finds
In transparent plexiglas containers in front of some of the display cases on the ground floor, there are ten or so tactile replicas of the exhibits, which have been made by the Rapid Prototyping Lab at Sardegna Ricerche. The 3D replicas were produced using “PolyJet” technology.
