Seulo

Seulo, a municipality in the center of Sardinia, from which the southern part of the Barbagia takes its name, is located in a territory with high environmental and landscape value, surrounded by the Mediterranean flora.

The area was interested by the human presence since the pre-Nuragic and Nuragic periods, between the Neolithic and the Bronze Age. This is attested by the presence of domus de janas, a giants’ tomb and some nuraghi, two of which close to each other: both of them are single towered, the smaller one is called “su Nuraxeddu”, and the largest one is called “su Nuraxi ‘e Pauli”.

In the forest of Addolì the presence of numerous caves of karst origin is attested. They were inhabited since prehistoric times, like sa Ruta ‘e i Bitulleris e sa Omu ‘e Jana. S’Arcu ‘e su cuaddu is a natural sort of dolmen of great beauty and considerable archaeological interest, shaped by wind and water: under this rock the Neolithics dug a domus de janas.

The most important archaeological site is the Nuragic village of Ticci, located on a limestone plateau. The Nuragic complex was built at an altitude of 700 meters and was the main center of the valley. There are now only few remains of the nuraghe, but we can still see the rests of a settlement of huts.
