Abbasanta

In the surroundings of the town of Abbasanta, in the province of Oristano, there are significant traces of human presence dating back to the Neolithic period. There are domus de janas, such as those of Bonorchis, dolmens associated with burials in Mesu Enas, allee burials and funerary hypogea. A large number of giants’ tombs (Aiga, Cannas Mannu, Losa, Mura Tuffau, Perda Crappida, on Portale Mannu, su Pranu, Zuras) and numerous nuraghes date back to the Nuragic age, including the Nuraghe Losa, one of the most important in Sardinia .

The Losa is a complex nuraghe with a three-lobed plan, built in basalt blocks with a central keep and around it three smaller towers. An antemural interspersed with towers protects the complex and the circular huts that formed the village. The life of the site begins in the Middle Bronze Age (15th century BC) and continues without interruption until at least the Iron Age (7th century BC) with a funeral attendance that continues until the 7th-8th century.
